Job Description:• Conducts timely interviews and accurate assessments on eligible defendants in the Lubbock County Jail. Prepares a report to the judge for consideration of release that includes relevant information and appropriate recommendations for conditions of bond • Accurately prepares and processes paperwork and legal documents • Maintains data and updates records on defendants. Submits reports as required • Conducts initial interviews, office visits, and field visits as required. Documents all contacts as required by policy. Makes all attempts to locate defendants who fail to report • Monitors compliance with the conditions of bond • Makes appropriate referrals • Notifies the judge, magistrate, or district attorney of violations of conditions of bond as required • Maintains professionalism with defendants, CSCD and Lubbock County staff, outside agencies, and the general public. Responds to inquiries, maintains confidentiality, and provides testimony in court proceedings • Works cooperatively in a team environment and performs any additional duties as assigned • Follows Lubbock County Detention Center, CJAD, and Departmental policies REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and the criminal justice system is preferred. Position may require work to be performed on weekends in addition to regular business hours not to exceed 40 hours per week. Must have the ability to operate a personal computer. Must have excellent verbal and written skills. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel software preferred. Must have interpersonal skills necessary to deal with defendants, public, coworkers, detention staff, court personnel, and personnel of other agencies. Must be able to work independently and efficiently. Must conduct themselves in an ethical manner that will ensure and promote the continued professional relationships with the courts and other agencies. Possess a valid Texas driver license and liability automobile insurance pursuant to Texas motor vehicle laws. Must have a telephone number at which they can be reached and access to reliable transportation. A criminal history will be conducted.
